Adopt-A-School Helps Kids Throughout the United States See Better
This program is powered by volunteers from Essilor of America, associated companies in Essilor corporate locations, and with other eye care entities and professionals in the Northwest, California, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, California, Georgia and the East coast. In 2010, 31 schools were served and 37 will be served in 2011. This program often serves as an ambassador to initiate local activities before being transformed into Kids Vision For Life.
Volunteer teams helped school nurses screen students for vision problems and provide free eye exams and glasses to children who could not afford them and did not qualify for Medicaid or S-CHIP. Teams also educated parents about the importance of good vision and how to care for their children’s eyes.
